Multiple-access channels with point-process observations: Optimum demodulation
نویسنده
چکیده
The derivation and analysis of optimum multiuser detectors for additive-rate and additive-light Poisson multiple-access channels are studied. The observed point process models the output of an ideal photodetector illuminated by several synchronous or asynchronous users who modulate coherent light of the same frequency. Dynamic programmingbased decision rules for the asynchronous multiple-access channel exhibit the same computational complexity as their synchronous counterparts and are shown to be optimum under the criteria of minimum error probability and maximum likelihood sequence detection. Upper and lower bounds on the minimum uncoded bit error rate achievable with arbitrary signal constellations are obtained in terms of the error probability of binary hypothesis testing problems. A particular case of these results, namely, the single-user finite-length intersymbol interference problem, solves the error rate analysis of optimum direct-detection systems for dispersive optical fibers.

Coding for Multiple Access Communications
An idealized code-division multiple-access (CDMA) system is used as a vehicle to illustrate a new approach to coding for multiple-access channels that aims to achieve reasonable efficiency while avoiding the prohibitive complexity of optimum coding schemes. The new approach combines "partial demodulation" to separate users into roughly independent groups with the creation of "virtual channels" ...
متن کاملMultiuser demodulation and iterative decoding for frequency-hopped networks
Demodulation and decoding for frequency-hopped spread-spectrum multiple-access (FH/SSMA) systems have been traditionally conducted by conventional single-user (noncollaborative) demodulation and errors and erasures correcting decoding techniques. In this paper, we study the demodulation and decoding aspects of collaborative multiuser reception for FH/SSMA and propose methods which increase the ...
متن کاملOutage Probability Bound and Diversity Gain for Ultra-Wideband Multiple-Access Relay Channels with Correlated Noises
In this paper, Ultra-wideband (UWB) multiple access relay channel with correlated noises at the relay and receiver is investigated. We obtain outer and inner bounds for the IEEE 802.15.3a UWB multiple access relay channel, and also, a diversity gain bound. Finally, we evaluate some results numerically and show that noise correlation coefficients play important role in determining relay position.
متن کاملMultiuser Detection and Turbo Multiuser Decoding for Asynchronous Multitone Multiple Access Systems
We consider multicarrier multiple access architectures that are based on combining discrete multitone (DMT) or filtered multitone (FMT) modulation with multiplexing of tones across users. Communications are asynchronous, e.g., uplink cellular communications. Optimum multiuser detection is formulated for demodulation of multitone signals that experience time and frequency asynchronism and propag...
متن کاملDecision-feedback MAP receiver for time-selective fading CDMA channels
A decision-feedback maximum a posteriori (MAP) receiver is proposed for code-division multiple-access channels with time-selective fading. The receiver consists of a sequence-matched filter and a MAP demodulator. Output samples (more than one per symbol) from the matched filter are fed into the MAP demodulator. The MAP demodulator exploits the channel memory by delaying the decision and using a...
